Seeding Connection: Restoring Relationship between Land and Sound

  • Knickerbocker Avenue Brooklyn, NY, 11237 United States (map)

**Please note: This is an IN-PERSON event, taking place at the Maria Hernandez Park in NYC.

Event Description

The plant walk at Maria Hernandez Park is an offering to the relationship between land, music, ourselves, and each other. In this hour-long immersion focused on learning about and communicating with the plantitas that live in the park, we invite you into a practice of re-sensitization through connection.

There is a presumption that nature exists outside of the urban spheres, however the cities are built upon land, rivers, blood and bones. The idea of what is nature and where nature exists requires a re-evaluation and deep analysis of our own world views and how that influences our relationship to the beyond human.

We will collectively meet a few medicinal plants and then have the chance to practice building relationship with the plants individually, in order to take this practice into our lives beyond our time together. Our intention is to inspire a deepening of relationship and curiosity about the stories and sounds that exist on the lands we walk and live on.

This plant walk (10 minutes from the venue) Hosted by Herban Cura co-founder/herbalist/environmental justice educator, Antonia Estela Perez, and Reyna Tropical guitarist/singer, Fabi Reyna, will support opening up our senses before entering into the world of Reyna Tropicals music at Elsewhere.
