Why Support Our Seasonal

CSA?

Our Community Supported Apothecary is inspired by the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model. By providing farmers with sustaining support over the course of the year, CSAs help fortify land stewards—like Herban Cura—against the intrinsic unpredictability of any growing season.

At its core, the CSA is a mutually beneficial relationship that supports both our community and the Herban Cura crew in cultivating abundance.

The CSA supports YOU by connecting you to affordable herbal formulas to support your daily health and healing rituals. In every seasonal share, you’ll find relational remedies, bioregional seeds, and educational booklets curated to inspire, nourish, and enliven. CSA memberships are a way to anchor in seasonal abundance and to build a vibrant home apothecary to see you and your community through the cycle of the year.

The CSA supports US by ensuring we have a strong financial foundation to grow from. For the first time since our founding, we are tending to the Plants to the People Farm on Lenape and Mohican land as long-term stewards. Our vision with this land project is to heal the soil, grow food for pollinators, and plant culturally relevant herbs to support communities of color. As part of integrating our community more intimately into our medicine-making process, we dream of building a farm that can be resource and refuge for our urban and rural kin alike. Your direct support makes that dream possible.

We want to honor Booker T. Whatley, a Black horticulturist and agricultural professor at Tuskegee University, for his contributions in creating the CSA model.

Antonia Estela Pérez

Hiii! I’m Antonia Estela Pérez Rojas @antonita_la_brujita, founder of Herban Cura and the herbalist that creates the remedies for the CSA and tends to the plants that go into the remedies.

I have been immersed in the world of herbs since I was born & have been learning about the plants actively since I was 12. My mom gifted me my first herb book at that age. I would go on plant walks with my mom, family friends and then when I would get home learn about their medicinal properties. I also went to a three year clinical herbalist school and have learned with many herbalists throughout the Northeast and throughout Central and South America.

I am so grateful to be in love in this way, always getting to recognize - learn with- re-learn- over and over again plants that I think I know. This life long path of learning about the plants not only for how they can support me but how I can tend to them and support them in thriving!

My current artistic practice is the Herbal CSA, formulating herbal remedies inspired by the plants I am tending and by what the earth is growing in abundance.

I am so excited to share these creations with you! 20 remedies over the course of 4 months, in addition to 4 packet of seeds from seeds I have saved and fresh plant bundles with each month’s offerings.

The Herban Cura: Plants to the People Farm is a place where we grow an embodied relationship with the land and the plants; a place for us to continue learning from the plants, the birds, the pollinators, as we live into what reciprocal relationship looks and feels like. We operate at the rhythm of the land and beings who live with it and because of it. We do not operate under models of production that use scarcity mindsets and patriarchal modes of relating. We honor and hold space for rest, prayer, deep reflection, open communication, joy, and abundance.

Why support the CSA ?

  • This is an opportunity to support our land tending and mutual aid work!

We are tending land and growing the Herban Cura Farm in the Hudson Valley. We are growing the soil, and planting medicinal perennials and native species, and imagining how herbal mutual aid can evolve beyond simply delivering ready-made medicine to frontline communities, to integrate these communities more intimately into our medicine-making process. As part of our reimagining of what herbal mutual aid can look like, we are continuing to build community outside the farm in NYC to understand what support is needed. Many people in our community have diabetes, asthma, arthritis, digestive issues, amongst other ailments. We grow herbs that are culturally relevant and make herbal formulas to support their specific needs.

By becoming a CSA member you support low income, immigrant, BIPOC community in receiving FREE herbal formulas and fresh herbs!

  • is an Herban Cura not-for-profit resource redistribution project this CSA supports.

The main mission of Plants to the People is to make herbs and plants more accessible to low-income, BIPOC, and immigrant communities. We redistribute fresh and dried, locally-grown, organic herbs at no cost for the general public. We set up our distribution events in publicly accessible spaces, most frequently in community parks and along sidewalks in residential neighborhoods. The locations of our distributions are chosen primarily to accommodate working-class people of color; those who have been here for generations, as well as first-generation immigrants and their families.
