Knowledge Share Description
Calendula flowers embody the Sun’s warmth, vibrancy and healing light. They are an easy annual to grow in full sunlight, and so much fun to gather every few days to dry for winter teas, oils and healing salves; to create sun teas and healing baths with, oxymels and vinegars, and to make a special flower essence for supporting warm, caring communication. Different species are native to southwestern Asia, southern Europe, Macaronesia, and the eastern Mediterranean region. In this knowledge share we hope you will be inspired to grow calendula for yourself and calendula as mutual aid! Deb will teach us about what to do if you can grow extra calendula for making into oils and salves - and provide resources on gifting to projects that support women and children who have experienced trauma.
The healing properties of calendula will be woven throughout our time together. Deb will provide detailed information about how to create healthy soil and garden beds for growing calendula (and other herbs), how to follow the biodynamic planting calendar, and understanding the four elements-earth, air, water and fire in relationship to medicinal roots, flowers, leaves and seeds.
You are invited to bring a cup of hot calendula tea to class as we will begin with a tea meditation, helping to ground and center ourselves, and beginning our meeting with the spirit of Calendula.
